RMF & Olympic Velodrome race in Tandem

Raised Modular Flooring specialist RMF hit the finish line in record time to ensure TV viewers see the close up racing action when five times Olympic Gold medal winner Sir Chris Hoy, Bradley Wiggins and Rebecca Romero compete during this year’s cycle races to be held at the newly constructed London Velodrome, this award winning and second place award in the Stirling prize for best building of the year.

Royal Leamington Spa based RMF have just completed 1200m² of flooring to enable cables from the trackside TV cameras to pass under the feet of competitors and spectators alike inside the Velodrome and into the media centre. This is one of a number of contracts that RMF hope to secure associated with the Olympics this summer.

RMF suggested and installed the ECO Range flooring product to meet the stringent Sustainability Targets established by LOCOG to make the summer Games the greenest ever. The Velodrome achieved a 31% reduction in carbon emissions over 2006 building regulations

Simon Middleton, RMF Sales Director, said "RMF have seized the opportunity afforded by the Olympic Games and have provided a totally green and “Gold” quality standard product.  The recession has dented business confidence, but like world class athletes RMF has the strength and stamina to continue through difficult times.  The RMF ECO Range is perfect for clients who are working with suppliers that are keen to drive the agenda regarding the reduction of their carbon footprint.  The RMF ECO Range raises the bar for sustainability.

We are all looking forward to seeing the action on TV, knowing that RMF has played its part to help billions of viewers to watch the largest global sporting event.
